Then I met him again elsewhere. I was trying to photograph a little egret when I saw him arrive. He approached calmly, seemed to greet the egret, then walked in front of me.

The water was unsteady, pulsating with movement and tension. And yet, a moment of stillness occurred. An unexpected gentleness. An almost unreal lightness, in stark contrast to the ordeal he had just endured. A moment of grace. His reflection then appeared in the water. Almost perfect. More contrasted than himself, it juxtaposed two realities: the harshness of existence, of survival, and the fragile beauty that can emerge from a profoundly graceful being.

I wanted to accentuate this duality when processing the image. The light swan against a dark background. Its dark reflection against a light background. An inversion. A mirror image.

This duality isn't limited to this animal. It permeates all living things. And, in our human condition, it resonates with existentialist thought: we don't live because life has meaning, but because it lacks it that we strive to give it one. The swan's trajectory is a silent illustration of this. It moves forward. It adapts. It perseveres. The title, Solitude , refers to a simple and uncomfortable truth: we are born alone and we die alone.

Faced with this immense question "Why the world?" we often only have one possible answer, "the how."

And sometimes, in the reflection of a swan,
This "how" is sufficient.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0992/6505/2997/files/Solitude_F_5da591fa-e76b-45e7-a212-0f42b27e6813.jpg?v=1768600318
